IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE MOST GRACIOUS, THE DISPENSER OF GRACE
[3:142]
Do you think that you could enter paradise unless God takes cognizance of your having striven hard [in His cause], and takes cognizance of your having been patient in adversity?

* v.142 : Lit., “while God has not yet taken cognizance of those of you who have striven...and those who are patient in adversity.” Since God is all-knowing, His “not taking cognizance” implies, of course, that the thing or happening referred to has not come about or is non-existent (Zamakhsharī).
